Manila, June 27 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division has approved the proclamation of Eric Yap as representative of Benguet's lone district in the House of Representatives.

In an eight-page decision dated June 26, the division dismissed for lack of substantial evidence the petition filed by one Franklin Tino alleging that Yap does not have Filipino parents and has lived most of his life in China.

According to the poll body's division, Tino "merely filed the Petition without presenting any proof of his contentions."
