Manila, Jan. 16 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is requesting the Office of the President for over PHP98 million to help fund the special polls in the 2nd District of Antipolo City on March 14.
In a letter submitted to Malacanang, the poll body asked for a total of PHP98,712,417.18 to finance the special elections that will determine the successor of the late 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop.
"In the absence of additional funding support, the Commission will be financially constrained from undertaking the required preparations and operations within the period prescribed by law," it said.
