Manila, May 12 -- The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) will be deploying teams to help in case build-up involving election-related offenses.
In a statement Monday, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said this is part of their efforts to ensure that the midterm elections are peaceful, orderly, and credible.
He added that each CIDG team will be headed by a senior officer and will be tasked to help local police units in investigating election-related incidents and other violations of the Omnibus Election Code.
Aside from this, Torre said the CIDG is still conducting operations against other election-related threats that include the so-called "guns, goons, and golds".
