Manila, Feb. 28 -- The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has arrested a person for using the name of the First Family in a swindling scheme involving government contracts.

In a press briefing held at Camp Crame on Friday, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III identified the suspect as alias Simeon, 49, a resident of Dona Juana Subdivision, Barangay Rosario, Pasig City.

He was arrested Thursday afternoon at a hotel in Pasay City by virtue of a warrant of arrest for estafa issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 160 dated July 22, 2024.
