Manila, May 13 -- The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has commended the progress on human rights concerns during the May 12 midterm elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, the CHR noted that the key positive developments included respectful campaign, combat against disinformation and vote buying, improved access and early voting for vulnerable sector members, inclusion of indigenous peoples (IP), and the voting process of persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

Members of the Badjao indigenous community in Barangay Manapa, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte participated in the elections, many of whom were first-time voters, the CHR noted.
