Manila, March 28 -- Senate President Francis Escudero on Friday expressed confidence that his home province, Sorsogon, will uphold its record of peaceful and orderly elections as the local campaign period officially began.

Escudero, who led the kickoff rally, said the province's tradition of stability during elections is a reflection of the unity and maturity of its people and leaders.

He encouraged other provinces in the Bicol Region to follow suit.

"The polls have been conducted peacefully here in Sorsogon compared to other Bicol provinces. My hope is that this example will also be seen across the region," he said.
