Manila, Feb. 9 -- The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) urged an evidence-based review of local succession and property laws to better safeguard the inheritance rights of migrant Filipinos living abroad.
In a news release on Monday, the commission said Secretary Dante "Klink" Ang II made the call during a recent meeting with Filipino-American lawyer and retired United States Navy officer Sylvester Lee Salcedo, who cited mounting legal challenges faced by overseas Filipinos when asserting claims over family properties in the Philippines.
