Manila, July 3 -- Carnapping incidents nationwide dropped by 8.5 percent from January to June 30, 2025 compared to the same period last year, the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said on Thursday.

In a press briefing held at Camp Crame, PNP-HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang said the downtrend in carnapping incidents indicated that their anti-carnapping campaign has been effective.

Malang said the 140 incidents of four-wheel carnapping recorded in the last six months are lower than the 160 logged in the same period last year, while 964 two-wheel or motorcycle napping incidents were recorded this year, fewer than 1,002 last year.
