Manila, Jan. 3 -- The first tranche of the daily wage increase in the Caraga Region took effect Saturday.

The daily wage increase of PHP455, from PHP435, is based on Wage Order No. RXIII-20 by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Caraga last year.

"The second tranche of increase to PHP475 daily wage will also take effect on May 1 this year," the Department of Labor and Employment said in a news release on Saturday.

Pol Cabica, 32, a regular driver of a delivery company here, said the management already met with them.

"I welcome this increase, including the second tranche this May 1. Though we vary in reactions and opinions to the wage increase, for me, it's a help to my family," he said.
