Manila, May 21 -- The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) on Wednesday announced the lowering of fuel surcharge from Level 4 to 3 in June, the lowest so far this year.
Fuel surcharge is the extra fee that airlines may collect in addition to the base fare to cover the costs incurred from the volatility of fuel.
Under Level 3, the fuel surcharge would range from PHP83 to PHP300 for domestic destinations, and from PHP273.36 to PHP2,032.54 for international flights, depending on the distance.
AirAsia Philippines welcomed the announcement.
"It's the perfect chance to plan ahead and book travels at even lower costs," it said in a statement.
