Manila, May 21 -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Wednesday reminded the public to adhere to drone regulations.

"In line with the Bagong Pilipinas initiative of the Marcos administration, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with the Department of Transportation and CAAP, emphasizes the responsible use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), commonly known as drones, to avoid serious threats to lives and airspace security," CAAP said in a news release.

Commercial drone operations require an authorization certificate from CAAP, and operators must also coordinate with local government units to comply with local drone ordinances.

Drones are allowed in areas outside of the 10-km. no-fly zones around airports.
