Manila, March 25 -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Tuesday lauded the local government of Tuguegarao for issuing an ordinance that promotes airspace safety.
CAAP said the Tuguegarao City government recently enacted an ordinance regulating flying activities within the vicinity of Tuguegarao Airport.
The ordinance prohibits kite flying, pigeon racing, drone operations, the release of balloons, and related activities within a 10-km. radius of the center of the airport.
Violators will be fined from PHP1,000 to PHP5,000.
"This ordinance plays a crucial role in mitigating risks across our airports," CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said in a statement.
