Manila, April 11 -- The local government of Malitbog, Bukidnon province is implementing heightened security measures starting Friday to maintain peace and order in the municipality amid threats from communist insurgents.
In a statement, Mayor Gary Casino said department and barangay officials have been alerted to monitor the security situation within the municipality.
"We, officials and residents, never tolerate armed groups sowing terror in our communities," he said.
Casino also affirmed the municipal government's "steadfast" commitment to securing peace, order, and safety for its residents and the general public, adding that they fully support the Army and police efforts to ensure stability in all 11 barangays.
