Manila, Sept. 3 -- The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Wednesday said it has no record of human rights violations, citing the Human Rights Situation on Persons Deprived of Liberty 2023 report.

Appearing before the Committee on Justice of the House of Representatives, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. said the agency has no cases of torture and other cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment or punishment (CIDTP) on persons deprived of liberty.

This was attested through Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Resolution No. POL 2024-013 dated November 2024 signed by CHR Chairperson Richard Palpal-latoc and Commissioners Beda Efres and Faydah Dumarpa, and Justice Monica Zenarosa.
