Manila, June 4 -- The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Wednesday the recent approval of the Palawan Mega Ecozone by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is a key step in repurposing underutilized land within the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) into industrial estates in the province.
In a statement, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. thanked PEZA for approving the project, which would pave the way for creating the first mega eco-industrial zone in the country.
Catapang said this marks a significant milestone in the country's developmental landscape, particularly under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and with the guidance of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
