PANGLAO ISLAND, Sept. 4 -- anglao International Airport (BPIA) is poised to boost its operation with the opening of night flights, following the operationalization of an additional navigation system.

Beginning September 1, 2019, the BPIA has extended its operating schedule from 12 hours (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) to 16 hours (6 a.m. -10 p.m.).

This is made possible through the installation, full calibration, testing and operationalization of several ground-based navigational equipment, such as distance measuring equipment (DME), localizer antenna, ground-based radio navigational aid, and instrument landing system (ILS). These equipment provide precise and systematic launching and landing of aircraft.
