Manila, Dec. 12 -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Friday said the entire bureau will be placed on heightened or Blue alert starting Dec. 15, and will shift to full alert or red alert from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2.
Blue alert requires 50 percent attendance of personnel and involves emergency preparations according to the incident management system; while red alert requires 100 percent attendance of personnel where an impending disaster or emergency is imminent.
In a media forum, BFP spokesperson Sr. Supt. Bonifacio Carta said red alert also requires personnel to stay in their offices or stations for 24-hour monitoring to immediately respond to critical incidents, and all applications for leave, except for sick leave, are suspended
