Manila, Dec. 22 -- The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) and Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) retirees distributed Christmas gifts on Monday to honor frontliners in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

In an interview, BFAR Spokesperson Nazario Briguera said the initiative recognizes the efforts of BFAR researchers and vessel crew members who "protect" marine resources in the WPS.

Beyond the material assistance, the gesture serves as a morale booster for personnel performing challenging duties at sea.
