BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 27 -- The Benguet Electric Cooperative expects to restore power to its final two barangays by early December after Typhoon Uwan caused PHP21 million in damage, officials said Thursday (Nov. 27, 2025).

Only Barangays Tawangan and Lusod in Kabayan, Benguet remain without electricity, affecting approximately 1,000 households.

"Surely, they will celebrate Christmas with electricity," said Chris Gonzales, Beneco community relations chief.

The cooperative has recorded 265 damaged electric poles across Baguio City and Benguet's 13 municipalities since the typhoon struck.

Gonzales cited major landslides and road closures as the primary challenges, noting crews only accessed the area on Nov. 21.
