Manila, Sept. 17 -- The city government is keen on pursuing its electric jeepney project following a pilot run at the central business district (CBD), showing minimal battery consumption even while carrying 22 passengers.

Engineer Richard Lardizabal of the City Engineering and Transportation Management Division reported that the e-jeepney completed a 7-km. loop with 10 stops in 54 minutes and 50 seconds, using only 5 percent of its battery.

"The results show the e-vehicle is feasible for CBD routes and can support the City's Smart Mobility Program," Lardizabal said in his report to Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
