BAGUIO CITY, Dec. 2 -- Temperatures in Baguio City remain within the normal range but are expected to drop to 8 degrees Celsius or lower by January, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

PAGASA chief weather specialist Larry Esperanza said current minimum temperatures range from 16 to 17 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures ranging from 28 and 29 degrees.

"This is our normal temperature which is not very high or low. However, we should expect a temperature that is below 10 degrees," Esperanza said in a media interview.

He noted the lowest recorded temperature in Baguio was 6.3 degrees Celsius in 1961.

While not predicted for 2026, climate change increases the potential for future extreme cold or heat events in the city.
