Manila, April 4 -- In a bid to further make transactions with the city government easier and more accessible, payment using the online financial platform GCash is now allowed.

"We want to give our taxpayers more ease in transacting with us. We are still negotiating with other online providers and banks that can accommodate the online payment of clients of the city," Mayor Benjamin Magalong said in a media interview on Friday.

The approval of digital transactions followed the signing of an agreement between the city government and GCash during the last week of March.

Upon payment, the GCash subscriber will receive a notification through text and/or in-app notification if transaction is successful or not.
