Manila, July 10 -- Six of the country's top woodpushers will be seeking slots in the first-ever FIDE (Federation Internationale des Echecs) Online Chess Olympiad from July 22 to August 30.

Qualifier game starts at 10 a.m. on July 11 as International Master Haridas Pascua goes literally to "war" against the top chess players led by former top Filipino player Mark Paragua.

"Exciting kasi top players po ng Pilipinas ang makakalaro ko (It's exciting since I will be facing the country's top players)," Pascua told the Philippine News Agency through a private message on Friday.

"I expect nothing but then I am going to give my best so that I can qualify," said the two-time national champion in the vernacular.
