Manila, Oct. 31 -- Police intercepted an illegal shipment of lumber and arrested a suspect during a routine patrol along the National Highway in Barangay Nonong Sr. on Friday.

In a report, the Aurora Provincial Police Office said the San Luis Municipal Police Station flagged down a vehicle without a license plate loaded with lumber after its occupants attempted to evade inspection.

The driver was identified as alias "RR," 23, from Baler, Aurora. A minor, identified as alias "Apeng," was also in the vehicle.

Police said the suspects failed to present a Permit to Transport Lumber, and the materials bore no Department of Environment and Natural Resources markings, violating the Forestry Code of the Philippines.
