MANILA, Nov. 2 -- Nationwide crime rate went down by 13.96 percent in the last three months, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Data released over the weekend showed index crimes decreased from 6,961 cases recorded between July to Aug. 25, to 5,989 cases from Aug. 26 to Oct. 30.

Focus crimes likewise dropped by 14.01 percent, from 6,931 cases to 5,960 over the same comparative period, the PNP said.

Focus crimes are murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, carnapping of motorcycles and motor vehicles, and theft.
