Manila, Feb. 2 -- The Philippine Army (PA) is aiming for a "balanced mix" regarding the planned modernization of its artillery systems, its spokesperson said Monday.
Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala gave this comment when asked by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on whether the PA is planning to get more self-propelled systems as part of its modernization program.
Self-propelled refers to artillery units that are capable of moving on their own power like tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
"Decisions between tracked, wheeled, or towed systems are typically based on terrain, infrastructure, and sustainment considerations. As a result, the PA aims for a 'balanced mix' rather than a complete shift to one type," he added.
