Manila, Jan. 23 -- The Philippine Army (PA) will be developing more potent drone capabilities to help in its mission to secure the country, its spokesperson said on Friday.

"Part of our future plan is to develop the PA's drone capability, doctrine and training," Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) when asked if the service is developing a more potent drone capability.

Dema-ala said these new capabilities would be used for "recon and combat."

Recon refers to reconnaissance or surveillance while armed refers to drones with the capability to attack military targets.

He declined to comment on what these will entail for security reasons.
