Manila, Feb. 6 -- The inbound transport of live swine in Antique is still not allowed despite the reclassification of the province into pink status (buffer zone) from its previous red status, or with a confirmed case of African swine fever (ASF).

Provincial Veterinary (ProVet) Office Public Health Division chief, Dr. Marco Rafael Ardamil, said in an interview Thursday that the province has been reclassified into pink status after registering zero confirmed ASF cases as of Jan. 20.

"We are taking precautions by not allowing the live hogs to enter Antique as our hog raisers are still struggling to return to the ASF pre-epidemic stage," Ardamil said.
