SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, April 8 -- The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on Tuesday warned residents against ashfall from Kanlaon Volcano's latest eruption that could reach the province.
In an interview, Antique PDRRMO chief Broderick Train reminded residents of the harmful effects of ashfall to their health.
"I urge the public to meanwhile use face masks and limit their exposure outdoors to protect themselves against the ashfall emission that could be hazardous," he said.
Train recalled that in December 2024, some areas in Antique experienced ashfall from Kanlaon, with some Antiquenos complaining about respiratory illnesses and poor visibility along the roads.
