Manila, April 2 -- Authorities are revalidating the rabies-free status of Malalison, an island-barangay in the Municipality of Culasi in Antique, to ensure the safety of both residents and tourists, an official said Wednesday.
In an interview, Dr. Marco Rafael Ardamil, head of the Antique Provincial Veterinary's (ProVet) Public Health Division, said they are conducting the revalidation together with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
"It could be recalled that Malalison island in December 2021 was declared as rabies-free in the Province of Antique by the DOH, so the revalidation was conducted March this year for the island to be able to renew its status," Ardamil said.
