Manila, March 25 -- The Department of Health (DOH) has opened another Super Health Center (SHC) in Pangasinan, this time in Alcala town, providing timely and accessible primary care to the residents and neighboring towns.

"Pangasinan has the biggest population in all the provinces in the Ilocos Region and most of these residents are remotely located in communities that are far from hospitals," DOH Ilocos Region director Paula Paz Sydiongco said in a statement Tuesday.

She said the center "will serve as the first responder to those in need of healthcare services."

The SHC will also refer patients who are in need of higher medical assistance "so that their families need not worry especially during emergencies," Sydiongco said.
