Manila, June 25 -- The Amandayehan Port in Basey, Samar is now fully operational to serve passengers and truckers after the completion of port upgrades aimed at easing the transportation disruption between Samar and Leyte caused by the weight restrictions at the San Juanico Bridge.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said improvements made to the port have increased its service capacity, with six landing craft tank (LCT) vessels now operating 24/7 between Tacloban Port and Amandayehan Port since Monday.
"The PPA-funded installation of navigational aids has been completed as well, paving the way for smoother maritime traffic and heightened safety protocols in the area," the PPA said.
