Manila, April 30 -- Aklan Governor Jose Enrique "Joen" Miraflores on Wednesday called for a speedy and thorough investigation into the killing of former Kalibo mayor and veteran journalist Juan "Johnny" Dayang, describing his death as "deeply disturbing."

Miraflores also assured Dayang's family and the public that the provincial government is closely coordinating with law enforcement authorities to ensure that those behind the killing are held accountable.

"We demand a swift and thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice. No stone will be left unturned in our pursuit of accountability," the governor said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
