Manila, June 5 -- Executives of online travel platform AirAsia MOVE on Thursday commended the Philippine authorities for their swift action in addressing the alleged excessive airfare being charged by the Malaysia-based platform.

The issue stemmed when Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said he recently learned about two tickets from Tacloban to Manila that cost around PHP77,704, around three times the price compared to booking directly on the airline's website.

Last June 2, Dizon said he ordered an investigtion on the matter, and also asked the Philippine National Police -Anti-Cybercrime Group to take MOVE's website down.
