Manila, Jan. 6 -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Tuesday maintained that it respects the Constitution and stressed that civilian authority remains paramount even as former Ilocos Sur governor Luis "Chavit" Singson called on AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. to take a more public stand against alleged corruption in government.
AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, at a press briefing Tuesday in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, said they have taken note of Singson's statements and stressed that the military maintains "unwavering adherence to the 1987 Constitution, specifically Article II, Section 3, which explicitly states that civilian authority, is at all times, supreme over the military."
