Manila, Dec. 17 -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday said there are no indications that the gunmen in the deadly Bondi Beach shooting in Australia had trained with terrorist groups during their visit to the country.
"From the field units, the data states that there are no foreign terrorist activities in the area. There are no trainings that are being conducted in the area," AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said in a press briefing in Camp Aguinaldo.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) earlier confirmed that the suspects - Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed - stayed in the Philippines for 28 days last month, entering the country via Manila before proceeding to Davao City.
