Manila, June 2 -- The automated counting machines' (ACMs) tally of the votes cast in the May 12 midterm elections has been accurate so far, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Monday.

Citing preliminary assessment of the ongoing random manual audit (RMA), Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said 407 out of the 762 clustered precincts have been audited as of June 1.

"So far, we have conducted manual audit of more than 400 clustered precincts out of the total number subjected to RMA," he said in a radio interview. "So far, so good. We are getting 99.996 percent accuracy rate from the machines."

Garcia said they aim to complete by June 28 the RMA, which started on May 14.
