Manila, June 12 -- A total of 619 violators were nabbed in Central Luzon during the five-month implementation of the nationwide gun ban for the May 12 midterm elections.

Aside from the arrest of violators, 640 assorted illegal firearms were also seized in the region from Jan. 12 to June 11, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) reported on Thursday.

"This accomplishment is a testament to the commitment and proactive stance of our police force in enforcing the law and safeguarding our communities, especially during the election season," PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said.
