Manila, Feb. 20 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Bicol Region (DSWD-5) distributed over PHP3.2 million worth of family food packs to 16 island barangays in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur, earlier this week.

In a report released on Thursday, the DSWD-5 said the food packs were provided to families severely affected by the recent shear line, which resulted in prolonged heavy rainfall and widespread flooding.

The report indicated that 4,434 families from the island barangays received essential relief assistance, while 635 families from Barangays Salog and Tamban in Goa, Camarines Sur, also received family food packs from the agency.
