TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 19 -- At least 52 former New People's Army members received safe conduct passes Friday through the government's amnesty program.

Tacloban City Mayor and Local Amnesty Board Chair Alfred Romualdez and military officials led the distribution. The passes guarantee mobility and protection for former rebels while their amnesty applications are processed.

Recipients "Nilyn" and "Percy" expressed their gratitude, saying the document offers a chance to rebuild their lives.
