Manila, July 8 -- Forty-nine Chinese warships and coast guard vessels were spotted in three West Philippine Sea (WPS) features in June, a ranking Philippine Navy (PN) official said Tuesday.
In a media briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, PN spokesperson for the WPS Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad said the Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard spotted the Chinese vessels at the following features from June 1 to 30:
Bajo de Masinloc: nine China Coast Guard vessels (CCGV) and 14 People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) warships;
Ayungin Shoal: 12 CCGVs and two PLAN ships;
Pag-asa Island: Nine CCGV and 19 PLAN.
Trinidad said these Chinese vessels "were in and out of the different [WPS] features."
