Manila, Jan. 15 -- A total of 4,438 senior high school students in Catbalogan City in Samar have received one-time educational cash assistance from the local government.

Mayor Dexter Uy, in a phone interview Friday, said the program "Ayuda Eskwela" of the city youth development council aims to support the needs of students as they adopt the new normal education.

The city government started the distribution of the PHP1,000 cash assistance on the second week of December last year and completed them early this week.

Of the total beneficiaries from the city's 57 villages, 2,572 students are enrolled in Grade 11 and 1,876 in Grade 12.
