Manila, Feb. 13 -- An initial batch of 3,000 students of the University of Antique (UA) have received educational assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The educational assistance, part of the DSWD's Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), was distributed on Thursday at UA's main campus in Sibalom municipality.

Student recipients not receiving any scholarship were given PHP10,000 each to help them meet their school needs, according to Antique Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda.

"I believe that education is not only a privilege, but the right of each one, so do well in school," Legarda said in his message to students before the distribution of the educational assistance.
