Manila, Feb. 7 -- Authorities have arrested 20 individuals for violating the election gun ban in Pangasinan since it took effect on Jan. 12, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported Friday.

In an interview on Friday, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) director Col. Rollyfer Capoquian said most of the violators were apprehended during police responses to disturbances that required intervention.

The arrested individuals face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

No prominent personalities or election candidates have been involved so far.
