Manila, May 21 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has prepared two flood control projects in the southern part of the country, particularly in the Maguindanao provinces, to help alleviate flooding.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DPWH said the feasibility study for the PHP39.219-billion undertaking has been completed and is awaiting approval of the loan application.

The budget covers the design and construction of the Ambal Simuay River and Rio Grande de Mindanao River Flood Control Projects, which are set to start in March 2026 and are expected to be completed by February 2030.

Both will be located at the heart of Mindanao mainland that is part of the Mindanao River Basin (MRB) System, the DPWH said.
