LAOAG CITY, Nov. 28 -- Two Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) workers survived a landslide that buried them along the national highway in Barangay San Juan, Santa Praxedes, Cagayan province on Friday morning.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Marlene Miralles confirmed that both workers were rescued, though one remains in critical condition in a nearby hospital.
Miralles said the victims, whose names were withheld, had been deployed near the Ilocos Norte-Cagayan boundary area to monitor the traffic and the weather conditions when the landslide occurred.
"One of their companions witnessed the incident and immediately called for rescuers," she said.
