1K indigents, typhoon victims in La Union join cash-for-work program
Pangasinan, May 24 -- A total of 1,142 indigent and vulnerable families in San Juan, La Union have been included in Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Risk Resiliency Program through Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
The project was initiated to provide assistance to strengthen beneficiaries' adaptive capacity in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Egay in July 2023, the DSWD said in a statement Friday.
In a phone interview, DSWD Ilocos Region information officer Kristine Sheila Tabin Amoroso said the cash-for-work program started on Sunday following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the local government unit of San Juan and the DSWD.
