Manila, Dec. 22 -- A total of 174 qualified senior citizens in Borongan City, Eastern Samar received PHP10,000 each in cash assistance from the national government during a distribution activity held last week.

The city government, in a statement on Monday, said the assistance was granted to octogenarians and nonagenarians through the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).

Beneficiaries included senior citizens who turned 80 and 85, as well as those aged 90 and 95, between March and December 2024 and from June to September 2025.

The distribution was facilitated by representatives from the NCSC regional office, in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs.
