CEBU CITY, April 30 -- Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia on Tuesday assured the 12,000 delegates for the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) 2024 of their health and safety amid the intensifying heat brought by the El Nino phenomenon.

Garcia said the regional athletic meet will officially start on May 4, where 8,500 athletes will vie for 1,362 gold medals in different sporting events.

CVRAA organizers led by the Cebu City Sports Commission assured the athletes, their coaches and delegation officials that measures will be in place to prevent heat stroke or heat stress due to extreme temperatures.
