LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 27 -- Eleven passengers of a van were killed in a road crash involving a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Libod, Camalig, Albay on Wednesday.

Camalig Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo said only one of the 12 passengers on board a UV Express van (Nabua-Legazpi route) survived after an eight-hour rescue operation.

Baldo said the investigation revealed that the truck lost its brakes and crashed into the van, which then plunged into a creek.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck with plate number RFK 576 survived, along with his helper, who is in the hospital for treatment.

In a social media post, Nabua Mayor Fernando Simbulan extended his sympathy to the families of those who were killed.
